Founded in 2010 by Doug Riggs & Tommy Norman, Street Urchinz (STU) is a reggae/rock band that provides a fresh & versatile approach to live music. Mixing reggae, ska, punk rock, soul, and classic rock, their sound appeals to a wide variety of audiences. From upbeat songs such as Pass the Jäger, to calmer numbers such as Wanting You, STU's soul is apparent in the unique versatility of their music. Regardless of the venue size, once on-stage, STU captures the audience’s attention, infusing their excitement & energy with the crowd.
As they’ve flourished professionally, STU has grown from Riggs (backup vocals/rhythm guitar) and Norman (vocals/lead guitar), to include Russ Fluty (keys), Jake Crain (bass) and Alan Ferreira (drums).
With extensive experience playing throughout the West Coast, STU has performed at such notable venues as the Boom Boom Room (San Francisco), Ace of Spades (Sacramento), the Knitting Factory (Reno), Pier 39 (San Francisco), & the Rockin’ Roots Festival (Bakersfield), to name a few.
Additionally, this Sacramento-based group has played alongside Matisyahu, Tomorrows Bad Seeds, The English Beat, The Supervillians, & The Green. As an opening act, STU commands a strong stage presence that is capable of igniting venues, getting fans engaged, excited & moving.
On-stage, their passion carries through each of their songs, making STU the life of the party. Backstage, they are courteous, timely & respectful of all logistics & operations. Previous promoters & fans alike rave that STU overproduce & exceed all expectations. In the three years since their formation, they have cultivated a reputation of professionalism, combined with solid performances. It is such experiences that make them a booking favorite.
In early 2013, DeVille Enterprises picked up STU & signed them to their new band management company. With this new representation, the band is looking to expand their exposure as they further develop their prowess & repertoire.
